about us

who we are

Baseball Beyond Borders takes American youth baseball teams and their families on international sports diplomacy trips where they learn more about the world and themselves. We offer 2 programs: 1) a 6 day / 5 night trip around the Easter / spring break holiday for middle school players and

2) NEW for summer 2027, a 10 day / 9 night program to Japan for high school players. Both trips offer age appropriate competition, cultural exchange with locals, and fun excursions.

Games

Each team will play in 3-5 games. Actual number of games depends on trip length.

Clinics

Players may train with local coaches and learn the “Latin way” to approach their on-field development. Trips may also visit MLB academies. All depends on availability.

Cultural Exchange

Players train and lunch together, connecting through their common love of baseball.

The trip includes lodging, ground transportation, game scheduling, and cultural & fun activities.

We work with a travel partner whose business is organizing international trips for college and high school sports teams. They have extensive local experience and maintain local contacts.

We use all inclusive resorts to make meals easy, but you are free to explore on your own as well.

To date, our trips have been centered on 1-2 teams per year, mostly 12 year old and Intermediate All-Stars from the North Oakland / South Oakland Little League. We’ve also had players from a number of District 3 Little Leagues (Marin) and the Piedmont PONY League.

We had a service trip for Marin high school players as well.

NEW FOR 2027! We plan to offer a summer trip to Japan for high school players.

The price for the DR middle school land package can range $2,900 – $3,500 per person. We will have a firm price quote in the fall of 2026 for the 2027 trips.

Travelers buy their own airfare so they can select the carrier of their choice and maintain travel flexibility on both ends of the trip.

Travelers should buy travel insurance to cover any unexpected cancellations after our Dec 1 non cancellation date.

If you are interested in any of our trips, please complete our 2027 Interest Form.

If you have a full team already playing together, email us at [email protected] and let’s discuss. We would love to keep you together, if possible.

We host a virtual “Kick off” call in the fall to discuss the calendar, costs, and fundraising (if applicable). We will email the Kick off call invitation to the parent email used in the 2027 Interest Form.

The call will likely be a week-day evening around 7 or 8 pm Pacific Time. At that time, we will provide details on the trip and answer questions.

Refundable deposits will be due within 2-4 weeks of the Kick-off Call.

The following links will answer most preliminary questions:

After the Kick-off Call, pay your refundable deposit by the due date. Paying your refundable deposit confirms your interest. It is refundable, less transaction fees, until December 1st. Book your flights. See How it Works and FAQs for why flights are NOT included in the package.

RENEW your passport ASAP.  Your passport should not expire within 6 months of your return date – the government’s rule, not ours.

Start fundraising (optional). If you want to fundraise we can give you some ideas and help.
Pay your installments around early December, then January and final payment in February.
When you arrive in the DR, a trip representative will meet you at the airport and you will be transported to the hotel in an air conditioned bus. A bus will be provided to all team scheduled activities.

Your trip will include:

– 3 to 5 games
– Clinics with trainers, if available

We try our best to match the school spring holidays, but recognize we cannot match every school. The dates are selected to coincide with Presidents’ Day Week and the weeks around Easter Sunday, when many schools schedule spring break. Flights are schedule midweek to maximize savings.
